Three day trips: forest walks, a mountain town and a salt mine.
Stay closeA few hours· No car needed
Start with a shady walk in Cancicov Park, stop for coffee, then take a taxi to the Insula de Agrement for a waterside wander. For a little local culture, add the George Bacovia Memorial House.
Fresh airA full day· For a slower day
A mountain spa town with a lovely central park, mineral springs and forest walks. Take a relaxed stroll, have lunch and spend a little time by the stream.
Views & old streetsA full day· For the view from above
Wander around the Princely Court, stop for lunch, then ride the telegondola up Cozla for views across the town and hills. Check the operator’s timetable before you go.
Something differentA full day· A little adventure underground
Explore the salt mine and its underground church, then enjoy the outdoor saltwater pool if it is open for the season. Bring a light layer for the cool mine.
Mountains & water1–2 nights· For a scenic escape
Follow the road through the dramatic Bicaz Gorges, then slow down beside Lacul Roșu, the Red Lake. Stay overnight nearby so there is time for lakeside walks and a relaxed return.
Old towns & castles2–3 nights· For a first taste of Transylvania
Base yourself in Brașov for the old town, Council Square and the Black Church. Add Bran Castle on one day, or continue through Sinaia for Peleș Castle on the way to Bucharest.
Art & countryside1–2 nights· For colour and quiet countryside
Stay around Gura Humorului and visit Voroneț, famous for its blue frescoes. Add another painted monastery, such as Sucevița, rather than rushing through them all in one day.
Before your flight home1–2 nights· For a final city break
Spend a day along Calea Victoriei, see the Romanian Athenaeum and explore the Old Town. A handy last stop if your flight home leaves from Bucharest.
One possible route, with time to enjoy each stop:
Start after the wedding in Bacău. Hiring a car makes the mountain stops easier.
A LITTLE LOCAL KNOW-HOW
Dress for a summer wedding, and bring comfortable shoes for a long night of dancing. A light layer may be useful later in the evening.
For the Orthodox church ceremony, covered shoulders and long trousers are respectful.
Expect warm days and cooler nights in Bacău. Typical August daytime highs are around 25–28°C, with overnight lows around 13–16°C. Some days can be hotter.
Bring sunscreen and sunglasses, a light layer for the evening, and a small umbrella for occasional showers.
Typical August weather in Bacău ↗The church ceremony is followed by an evening celebration with dinner in several courses, music and dancing. The cake and fireworks are planned for midnight, and the party carries on after that.
The nași are our wedding godparents. And when the hora starts, join the circle — someone will happily show you the steps.
Get a head start on the hora ↗Our reply form includes children. Please reply for the guests on your invitation, and message us if you’re unsure about your party size or need any arrangements for little ones.
Please include allergies and dietary requirements in your RSVP, with the name of the guest each one applies to. We’ll follow up on the details with you.
We’re arranging transport back to Fiald Hotel. Request it in your RSVP so we can plan places; the pick-up and return details will follow closer to the wedding.
